We are a family engaged in a restaurant and other activities in Phuket, Thailand. We have been running the company alltomthai for about 2 years. Restaurant Trädgården is on its third season this autumn.

The family consists of Jörgen, Pat and their children Per and Winnie.

A small interview with Pat and Jörgen:

How come that you wanted to start a business in Thailand?
Pat: well, we discussed about wanting to start a business in a country where we both could live well and have a vacation at the same time. Because I'm thai, it was esier to choose Thailand. So to run a business in Thailand would be both good for me and the rest of the family.

Jörgen: I wanted to stay in a warm country and avoid the winter in Sweden. Then at the same time you have to do something there, you can't just sit idle all the time. So it was a good idea to do something in Thailand.

What is the best thing about Thailand?
Pat: For me it is the food and that my family get the opportunity to experience Thailand and see how it works with the culture and so on.

Jörgen: The best is, of course, the warm climate and all the nice people.

What is the worst thing about Thailand?
Pat: The price differences between a thai and a farang (foreigner). Many people complain about the traffic, but I do not tolerate the bribery. The purpose of our buisness is that everyone pays the same amount of money, everyone is equal.

Jörgen: The traffic ... It is probably the worst thing.

Was Thailand as you expected?
Pat: No, it was not as I expected, much has changed since 20 years back when I lived there. But there is a certain difference between Phuket and Thailand. Much has happened good and bad.

Jörgen: It was better than I expected. I thought it would be much more hassle, nothing negative only positive things though.

The best places?
Pat: Trädgården.

Jörgen: The beach, obviously Nai harn (in Phuket), I absolutely recommend. Then perhaps you should go out and take a divingcertificate somewhere, there are many to choose from.

But how about restaurants or clubs?
Jörgen: Nightclubs, Club Lime (in Phuket), I have to say then.

Restaurants ...?
Jörgen: Trädgården of course ... there are no better places. ha ha!
